RE-Fuel was formed in 2000 by three principal shareholders: Sir John Samuel who is a leading expert on Redox fuel cells and electric vehicle design, Roger Anderson an entrepreneur with a successful business track record and the owners of ESD Ltd, a company with an international corporate and public sector client base in the sustainable energy industry. This provides a combination of technical expertise, business experience and market access.

The Company has developed a high efficiency, high energy density redox fuel cell with support from the UK Department of Trade and Industry. Development work was carried out by the Professor Maria Skyllas Kazacos and her team from the University of New South Wales - world leading experts in redox fuel cell development.
